All though having experienced some challenges in 2020 Järnmalmer International (JMI) managed a great advance in the international scrap market. In March 2020 we made our first deep-sea heavy melting scrap sale to Turkey, a country which is internationally recognized as a dominant market for this commodity. By the end of this year we have managed to contract and ship 7 bulk vessels of premium HMS material to this country. We established direct supplier agreements with the leading steelmaking companies in Turkey like Isdemir which is one of the largest iron and steel plants and Turkey’s only integrated plant which produces both long and flat products. Apart from that we established direct business relations with Ekinciler, Bastug and Koc integrated steel mills. As usual Järnmalmer deliver not only premium grade of scrap but premium degree of service. Among our plans for 2021 is to be one of the first European suppliers of ferrous melting scrap to mainland China when administrative barriers for import of ferrous scrap will be lifted in this country as it was lately announced.
